Today, me, my sister, and my Gammie went out on a walk through a nature trail. Surpisingly enough, we had no idea this trail existed until a few days ago!
We stopped once we got out of the nature trail at a small shady grove of trees. We mediated, while my sister took selfies, LOL. While we were mediating, we observed what we saw around us, we became aware of our surroundings. When we first arrived to the grove, the ground and our surroundings were'nt that interesting. But when we took time to appreciate and become aware of that rotting leaf on the ground or that stick with a tiny ant scavenging for food. Suddenly, that stick meant something to me. It wasnt just stick or just a leaf. It was something. So, I want you to try it, to see what things you find. Here is a quick overview of the meditation we did if you are interested. 1. Just briefly close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. 2. Everytime you breath all the way out, soften your body and relax anything that is tight or tense. 3. Try to pause when you exhale before you inhale again. 4. Now, with your eyes still closed, focus on the sounds around you, whether it be the air vent in your room, a squirrel climbing up a tree, etc. 5. Now, just open you eyes slightly, about half mast. See anything that you can see, observe the space you are in and your surroundings. You might realize that some things now have a certain significance to you than it did before. It's amazing! 6. Open your eyes all the way. It's so interesting how mindfulness and meditation can improve our moods and open our eyes! Happy dreaming! Emily

I know it's a little late for Thanksgiving, but I feel like some people don't really know how to be thankful for little things. Here are some ideas, and my list of the things I'm thankful for.
-The people in my life -Nature -Creativity -Good people -The ability to have our own beliefs and interests -Self confidence and power To be thankful is, I feel like, a simple task. You can be thankful for the people in your life, or your pet, or even your career or occupation! But, for some people, it is harder to notice, and appreciate little things that come your way. A way you can make being thankful easier, is taking a few minutes, in somewhere quiet, where you won't be disturbed. Then, just sit, eyes closed, thinking and noticing sounds, emotions (letting them come and go), sensations in the body, anything! After a few minutes, go to a friend or a family member, even a pet, and do a random friendly deed. This will make you feel thankful for them, and make them thankful for you! What is the difference between thankfulness and gratitude? Actually, thankfulness is a feeling of being thankful for someone or something, just a feeling. Being grateful, is an action. An action of gratitude could be, writing someone a thank you card for mowing your lawn! Or making breakfast in bed for your parents for helping you with your homework! Anything! Today, I want you to take some time today to acknoledge what you are thankful for, and do an act of gratitude for someone. Anyone! Happy dreaming! Emily
Next, use this guide to write some awesome things about yourself on a separate sheet of paper.
Do you ever feel like you’re not good enough, or that life isn’t good enough?
Well, you’re not going to get anywhere if you keep that mindset. You have to have what’s called a growth mindset. If you don’t know what that is, an example of a growth mindset is when people know that their abilities can be developed, or expanded. It is a notion of flexibility, and cooperation. To have a growth mindset, in my eyes, is a type of freedom of which you can control your happiness, and your doubts, or even the thought that you don’t think you’re good enough. You have the ability to take that negativity and think of how you can improve and being open to new ideas! And maybe you struggle with this? That’s ok! You can keep a journal, and list things you love about yourself, or what you wouldn’t change about life. And that could potentially help to open your mind to more possibilities of life, because there are SO MANY! You can take your life down any road that you want. And the cool thing is that you can control what So, I have been thinking about and having trouble with finding ‘my thing’ or my passion.
However, I ask people who has a thing, something that makes them them. And everyone I ask says “don’t worry about it, your passion will find you.” And I tend to get frustrated at this answer because I don’t want to sit around and wait for something to come. I want it at that moment. And a lot of you are probably like me and are not very patient people. But then, I was sitting on my porch when the thought came to me. I realize now that I haven’t been successful with anything else, so there’s really nothing else to do then wait! And in the long run, I just kind of have to wait for something to come, because in the long run, I might not find my passion until I’m 64. So try not to force anything because I promise you, it will come naturally! Happy Dreaming! ”You can’t fake passion” -Barbara Corcoran Hello! If you ask me, I don't like it one bit. Mm-mm. I had to miss out on my 4th grade graduation, where at my school, 4th graders walk the halls with candy necklaces and goodies. I also missed out on summer camp. As you guys know, I love, love, love horses. So I was supposed to go to a camp where I spend a week of my summer with horses. How awesome is that?! So yeah, I was quite disappointed. But, you know what I said to myself? I said; "You know what? Yeah, this is really disappointing. But people are dying and losing family members, couples having to cancel their weddings, and people who are homeless, staying home is not an option. So, things could be a lot worse for me and my family, so let's just be grateful that we are safe, and that we are healthy." So, your'e probably wondering, "Well, if I have to be stuck at home every day, what am I supposed to do? Well, I'm going to give you guys a list of things that you can do!
Hopefully, that gave you guys some suggestions of boredom busters to make your day more fun! Just remember guys, if you believe in yourself, there is always one person by your side. Happy dreaming!, Emily |
